I published an earlier version of this post a year ago, after DeSantis had illegally removed from office twice-elected Jewish-American Hillsborough County States Attorney Andrew Warren. At the time, Meatball used an antisemitic trope-“George Soros bought prosecutor- which experts in antisemitism have repeatedly identified as an antisemitic trop, The renowned Jewish newspaper, The Forward, wrote about this.

During the GOP{ clown show on Wednesday night, governor Meatball once more fell back on this tried-and-true Republican tactic, as explained by MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, a former GOP Congressman who came to his senses and quit that fascist party. Joe correctly stated that every now and then, a Republcian has to engage in a little antisemitism to throw red meat to their followers.

Just prior to removing Warren, DeSantis came to the support of a Republican judge seeking reelection after having engaged in a wild antisemitic rant at a recorded church service. The bigot was soundly defeated by a Jewish woman, and DeSantis spit in the faces of the voters by appointing the bigot to the appellate court!

Is anyone really surprised that when push came to shove, in a tightening election, Ron DeSantis would fall back on this well-worn and bigoted  Republican trope? As former GOP Congressman Joe Scarborough has stated, a far-right Republican can only go so long without throwing out a little antisemitism.

Florida public safety would really improve if DeSantis worried as much about his Nazi supporters beating up people on the streets of Orlando and congregating in downtown Tampa to trumpet their support for him. Instead, DeSantis wants more deranged Nazis to have assault rifles.
