In memory of those who died on 9/11, including so many brave first responders.
When America was attacked, members of Congress of both parties unified behind the President and the country, even though a mere nine months before, the closest election in U.S. history was decided by 500 plus votes in Florida and a controversial Supreme Court decision. None of that stopped the unity, and the entire House and Senate joined together to sing “God Bless America” on the steps of the Capitol. The very first message of the President was that Americans must not blame Muslims, as it was handful of criminal terrorists and not the Muslim people who committed the horrendous crime.
We should remember those times as well.
