LOOKS LIKE MY STORY "VIRTOX" WAS PRESCIENT

In January I posted a story I wrote on a whim. It was titled Virtox and was a spoof on the cryptocurrency craze. The minimal research I did for the story persuaded me that Bitcoin et al were at best classic case of a bubble, as in Dutch Tulip; at worst, they were classic Ponzi schemes based on limited availability and the assurance that no matter how absurd a price you paid for it this week, next week there is sure to be some fool willing to pay even more.

Virtox was a humorous tale, not a financial primer, and as a fiction writer, it didn’t matter to me whether the events portrayed actually happened down the road. But I cannot help but watch in wonder as it does.

The story can be found on the blog under Free Stories at www.stephenshaiken.com
